Setting up APEX on TradingView
Before you can use APEX you need a TradingView account and your username registered for access. This page walks you through everything from account creation to seeing your first session box on the chart. Takes around 10 minutes.
Step 1 — Create a TradingView account
If you don't already have one, go to tradingview.com and create a free account. Any TradingView plan works with APEX — you don't need a paid subscription to use the indicator. However a paid TradingView plan (Essential or above) allows you to set unlimited alerts, which is useful if you want notifications across all four sessions.
Step 2 — Find your TradingView username
Your TradingView username is needed to grant you access to APEX. It is not the same as your email address. Here is how to find it:
- Log in to TradingView and click your profile icon in the top right corner
- Click Profile from the dropdown menu
- Your username is shown at the top of your profile page, preceded by the @ symbol — for example @johnsmith
- Make a note of this username — you will need it in the next step
Step 3 — Confirm your access
When you subscribed through Whop, your TradingView username was collected at checkout. Access is usually granted within a few minutes of purchase. To confirm it has been applied:
- Log in to TradingView
- Click Indicators at the top of any chart (the beaker icon)
- In the search box type APEX Breakout
- Under Invite-only scripts you should see the APEX indicator listed
Step 4 — Add APEX to your chart
- Open TradingView and load a chart of the instrument you want to trade
- Change the timeframe to 5 minutes using the timeframe selector at the top of the chart. APEX is designed and calibrated for the 5-minute chart.
- Click the Indicators button (beaker icon) in the chart toolbar
- Type APEX Breakout in the search box
- Under Invite-only scripts, click APEX Breakout — All Sessions to add it
- The session boxes will appear on your chart immediately
Step 5 — Save your chart layout
Once APEX is on your chart and configured how you like it, save the layout so it reloads automatically every time you open TradingView.
- Press Ctrl + S on Windows or Cmd + S on Mac
- Give the layout a name — for example APEX EURUSD 5min
- Click Save. Your layout is now stored in TradingView's cloud
- To access it again, click the layout name in the top right corner of any chart and select it from your saved layouts
Step 6 — Set up TradingView alerts
APEX has native Pine Script alerts built in that fire the moment a signal is confirmed at bar close. To set them up:
- Right-click anywhere on the chart and select Add Alert, or press Alt + A
- In the Condition dropdown, select APEX Breakout — All Sessions
- Choose the alert condition — for example UK Bullish Breakout or Any Session Breakout
- Set the notification method — Email, App push notification, or Webhook for automation
- Set Once Per Bar Close as the trigger frequency
- Click Create — the alert is now active
You are ready
